Wednesday 27th April 2022
A New Winter Approach brings the winter service industry together for a day packed with free, expert talks and presentations, round table discussions, networking opportunities, and panel Q&A sessions.
WLGA’s Salt Network – origins, activities and look ahead
Tim Peppin will look at the work of the WLGA’s Salt Network – why it was formed, what it has achieved and some of the issues that it will need to consider in future; including climate change and other environmental concerns, the shift in emphasis towards pubic transport and active travel routes, and some lessons from the Covid pandemic
Steve Sinnott will discuss carbon reduction to achieve net zero carbon, and the changes we need to make to alternative fuels and power sources, including realistic expectations, limitations and future possibilities.
How to deliver an improved service offering, while reducing costs
To help tackle new challenges in Winter Service, we evaluate current de-icers and discuss case studies from Local Authorities who have looked beyond salt.
